All of us, regardless of our method of treatment, have had dilation in some way or another. If you had surgery, you had a dilator in place after your surgery, and I am sure you still are using dilators to maintain your surgery if you are not having sex regularly.
The rest of us "made" our own vaginas with dilation (or perhaps you did nothing). We expanded our "vaginal dimple" to become what eventually is a vagina. This was my method of treatment.
Dilation can be so uncomfortable!

It doesn't have to be physically so painful. Go to a sex store or a website like Good Vibrations and find yourself a vibrator. Not a clitoral vibrator (ok, go ahead and pick one of those up too), but one that is penis sized or larger, preferably with multiple speeds (similar to those in the picture above). I would also choose one that has a soft texture, not a hard plastic one. Also, think about using Lidocaine.
To use, lube it up like you would with your regular dilators and put it in at a low speed. Increase the speed as the pain increases and it won't hurt half as bad.
Speaking of lube, what is the best lube? I would recommend Astroglide. It seems to have the best staying power and when you use it for sex, guys tend to like it too. It's a good investment because it's more expensive than other brands.
If you feel so inclined, in the mood, and want to use your dilation vibrator in other ways, go for it!
What if you didn't have surgery and was just sexually active? Sure it hurts at first but over time won't it get better or will it just continue to hurt until I finally decide to have the surgery?
