Dilation Treatment

This topic gets difficult for me.  It may take me several days to get this out onto paper.

So my mom made me an appointment to go to a specialist about an hour away from home.  I was very nervous for this appointment as well.  But first, I think I need to explain a bit more about what stirred me to treatment.

It was Matt.  I think that the numerous emotions I was going through did not make it easy for him to tell me that he wanted sex, and I understand that now, years later.  What bothers me so much about this condition, is the lack of options...I can't have sex until treatment, I can't ever have kids, you know the drill...and I was ready to give myself the option to have sex, when I wanted to do it.  So that's why I sought treatment.  I was 20.

Now you're probably thinking that is kind of late in the game, since most people have sex earlier, but what I figured with my religious upbringing, was that I was not going to have sex until I was married.  When I felt I was in that relationship, I would start the dilation process.  That was good logical thinking those days, but as a single 30 year old now, I am somewhat glad I didn't wait...I'll explain the somewhat later too...

So I went to the physician who I will call Dr. X, and he was fabulous.  He "prescribed" a set of silicone dilators for me to start the dilation process.  For those of you new to this treatment, the dilators come in all sorts of sizes, from pinky to small penis sized (see picture above).  I was to dilate twice a day for 20 minutes.

Honestly, it's a bit of a daunting task to think of going from nothing to having a vagina.

Dilating was difficult for me.  It hurt (badly), and on top of that, I was actually mad at men during the time I dilated.  I know that probably sounds strange, but it made me mad.  The physical pain was such that my vaginal area was tender in the morning when I did it and then doing it again at night was nearly unbearable.

  1. my sister has this type of problem. her vaginal length is near about 2 inches. Her ovary is ok. Can she get normal vagina with this treatment?

  2. Yes, she most likely will be successful and the men she is with will never know the difference. Find a good doctor who has treated the condition before and this will help a lot. :)

  3. Lucky me having found your blog. It is really helpful and encouraging.
One question,, Do you think it's better to have a non-surgical therapy?

    1. I think that non surgical is the best way to start. This is my non-medical opinion but I do work in healthcare. Surgery has so many potential risks and complications. It's amazing how your body can stretch in that place and it behaves like a vagina would (lubricating, tightening and loosening when aroused). Listen to your body and talk to your doctor :) I'm there for you.

  4. You have no idea how much I can relate to you! I've just ordered my dilators 'cause lately I'd been thinking ... Hell it's bad enough to have been diagnosed with MRKH and not be able to have my own children. So I wanted to take control of my sex life at least. Sounds silly but my obsession over this celebrity made me do it hahah. I didn't exactly have a religious upbringing, waiting to have sex only after marriage was purely my decision. I'm only 19 and I'm starting university this September. So I just thought at least if I dilate now, I at least have the option to have sex if I decide to change my mind. Being able to have sex would make me feel just a little bit better about myself.

    1. I would say go to your doctor and share this with them. That would probably be your best bet….Do you need more depth or width?

    1. Hi there, your doctor will have the specifics on dilation that meets your needs (I hope!). From what I have heard from doctors is that this process can take up to a year. You absolutely have to do it often (daily) to do it faster. If it hurts, use a vibrator or get some lidocaine from your doctor…

  8. hi,
Thank you for your answer, the problem is that I live in Morocco, and doctors who know this disease is very rare, my gynecologist m 'have spoken only of the expansion by the sex with my husband, but I think it will be time for that I want to make an effort on my part using vaginal dilators to move forward and make progress and have a satisfactory vaginal depth in a little time, I need help on how to use these dilators and the maximum time for a good vaginal depth, I read a lot of experiences of women chosen qui'ont treatment expansion instead of the operation but expansion period of each woman is different there qui'ont women made a good progress in a short time but there are women who have spent many years to have a small plate depth and it scares me, I want an expansion program that gives results quickly.

    Can you help me please

    thank you

    1. I think the key is to do it regularly, twice a day at least 20 to 30 minutes. That's what my doctor recommended. You will be sore, and that's normal. Use a vibrator when it gets large enough and that will help with the pain. If your husband could help dilate you, that would probably feel awesome. Good doctors for MRKH are rare and hard to find--many gynecologists don't know much if anything about the condition. Keep positive, you can do this!

    2. Operation is the best if you want fast results. It us called vaginoplasty. You can have sex six weeks later.

  9. I was diagnosed about 2 months ago. Would you suggest I start dilation without consulting my doc? The gynecologist that diagnosed me referred me to a professor and his secretary referred me to someone else, that jumping around has already made me reluctant to see the other doctor and I'd just rather get this part of MRKH over and done with.
